JANUARY UPDATE

First up, I hope that everyone had a marvelous holiday season, that you spent as much quality time with your loved ones as they could bear, and that you rang in 2019 in a fun but safe and responsible manner.

It seems, for now, that this will be a once-a-month-ish blog until I can kick myself hard enough in the pants to do it more often. I am, after all, no Dean Wesley Smith.

What happened in December? Well, no writing and no editing. I was sitting on Comedy of Terrors for a few weeks, and then I got sick. Right before a Game Day weekend. (Had to miss it.) Just as I was recovering from that, I got hit with a bad cold right before Christmas. Strictly speaking, I’m still sick (4 weeks and counting), but it is so much better than it was.

Because the gang missed me so much, they scheduled another Game Day for the end of December, and even though I was still coughing, I went. Pretty sure I got all three of them sick. We played the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game, of course. PACG: Rise of the Runelords is one of the two campaign games we have. (The other, Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle, is currently on hiatus because it keeps kicking our butts and we have had enough for the time being.) One of the others brought his Game of Thrones Catan. We played the basic Catan version, because this was the first time I had played any Catan game. I know, gasp!!

We started the day with Unlock: A Noside Story, which is an Escape Room in a box. Lots of fun, but it took us two hours to complete (fail!). Then we ended in the evening with a ridiculous game with a fitting title, We Didn’t Playtest This at All. It’s a good game if you have a couple of minutes to kill but not enough time for a full, meaty game.

Over Christmas weekend, my roommate went to Las Vegas so I was able to get in three sessions of my solo Pathfinder game, PACG: Skull & Shackles. The third session kicked me in the shins, so next time I am able to pull that one out, I will have to replay the scenario.

And that’s all there is to report on from December. I can give you a sneak peek at next month’s blog, though: Some editing, more games, and a couple of pretty good movies.

Talk to you next month!
