Dean Wesley Smith calls it Critical Voice. Some others call it the Inner Critic. At NaNoWriMo, we refer to a creature known as the Inner Editor.
However you want to refer to it, this creature is something to be avoided at all costs, especially when trying to write a lot of words in a short time. This thing will sit on your shoulder and second-guess every word you write. Who has time for that? Not me… and I’m going to guess not you, either.
This episode talks about how to recognize this demonic force and what to do when you encounter it. Seriously– you do not want to mess with the Inner Editor during NaNoWriMo.
